As part of my playful search for supposedly hard-to-read world literature, I naturally stopped by Georges Perec.
After a black-and-white interpretation of James Joyce's amazing book Ulysses, I now wanted to introduce colour.
So I took the full, digital text of Georges Perec's book 'La disparition' and converted all the characters into my own font 'HSP1'. By simply placing the justified text in red on a blue background, I obtained a nice purple square.
And then I found out that this remarkable book by Georges Perec has been translated into several languages. (Thanks Philippe!) What a marvellous discovery! How wonderful that there are people who have done this almost impossible translation work.
This modest play with characters, text and colour is an ode to all those who are contrary and undeterred by any obstacles, yet can lose themselves in what drives them with complete dedication.
