PIP is a new series of drawings.
For this video show, I have printed them on A4 paper to play and hold them in my hands. These are made of vectors, so I can print them in any size I want without the slightest quality loss.
I could explain in great detail how I made these images. Starting with a small self written program in Processing and then moving to Illustrator to add color. Combining a very systematic setup and then slowly drifting away to forget everything in an unavoidable moment where lines and forms suddenly seem to go their own way.
I like to think of drawings as trips in search of surprise. I start somewhere and more or less think I know where I will end up to. Unplanned events, coïncidence and mood swings all lead to that short moment where I find myself suddenly surprised, getting lost without loosing myself. Another sweet illusion.
Technology, choice of material, theories or ideologies are only temporary and maybe necessary illusions to make believe that there is a smart, reasonable or emotional driver towards the perfect artwork. They always disappear in thin air pretty quickly when you truely keep your eyes open and briefly focus on one leaf of a tree or stare too long at the sun.
What you see is what you imagine.
